Teaching summary

In this teaching, Pastors Leonard and Lori Rola reveal that sowing is no longer the responsibility of believers under grace—because God has already done the sowing through Jesus Christ. They explain that everything Jesus endured at the cross was the Father’s perfect sowing, and the resurrection is the reaping, which believers now partake in through union with Christ. The message emphasizes rest over effort, grace over law, and receiving over striving. Ultimately, believers are called to live in the finished work of Christ, resting in His mercy, provision, and protection.

Bible verses referenced

John 1:17- "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

Psalm 91:1-4- "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler."

John 14:6- "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Introduction: God’s Original Plan Was Grace, Not Law

The pastors begin by explaining that God’s original intention was never the law. They point to Hebrews chapters 8 and 10, where it is made clear that God did not take pleasure in the law system. Instead, His plan was always rooted in grace, established through the Abrahamic covenant and fulfilled through Jesus Christ.
Jesus came specifically to do the Father’s will, which included putting away the old covenant system. The law, sin, separation, and even sickness were all addressed and dealt with at the cross. The crucifixion was not just about forgiveness—it was about removing every barrier between God and man.

The True Meaning of Sowing and Reaping

Under the old covenant, sowing and reaping were a “do-it-yourself” system. People had to perform (sow) for God to respond (reap).
However, the pastors explain a major shift: while sowing and reaping still exist, the one doing the sowing is no longer man—it is God Himself. The Father sowed Jesus, and now He expects to reap from that perfect sowing. This changes everything. The responsibility is no longer on believers to sow to receive, but to understand and participate in what God has already accomplished.

Jesus as the Father’s Perfect Seed

Jesus was sown by the Father in total brokenness. He was beaten, whipped, stripped, and humiliated. The suffering He endured was extreme and intentional—it was the Father’s sowing. He was also born in poverty. As described, Jesus did not even have clothes on His back—they were taken from Him. This represents a complete lack of destitution.

He was betrayed, rejected, ridiculed, and left alone. Every form of human suffering and brokenness was placed upon Him. This was not random—it was purposeful sowing by the Father.

Our Union with Christ in His Death and Resurrection

A key teaching of this message is that believers were united with Christ throughout these events. When Jesus was sown, believers were sown with Him.
And when Jesus was raised—glorified, righteous, whole, and victorious—believers were raised with Him.
This union means that everything Jesus went through, believers are counted as having gone through with Him. And everything He received in resurrection, believers now share.

Why Believers No Longer Sow to Receive

Because the Father has already sown Jesus, there is no longer a need for believers to sow to get something from God.

The Father sowed:
–Poverty → reaped riches
-Brokenness → reaped wholeness
-Sin → reaped righteousness

Now, the believer’s role is not to initiate sowing, but to take part in the reaping. The pastors emphasize that continuing to think “I must do for God to do” is a return to the old-covenant mindset. Under grace, it is about recognizing what has already been done.

Palm Sunday: Grace Riding Above the Law

The teaching shifts to Palm Sunday, where Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a colt. The garments laid down were not just ordinary clothes—they were tallits, garments representing the law. As Jesus rode over them, it symbolized grace trampling over and fulfilling the law.

This is reinforced by John 1:17- "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."
Jesus was not coming to elevate the law, but to rise above it and bring a new covenant of grace.

The Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat

The Ark of the Covenant contained three items that represented human rebellion: the law, Aaron’s rod, and manna. Above all of these sat the mercy seat, made of pure gold, symbolizing divinity.

The mercy seat is a picture of Jesus. When God looks, He does not see the rebellion underneath—He sees the mercy seat and the blood applied. This is a powerful image: God sees Jesus, not sin. He sees mercy, not failure.

Psalm 91 and the Secret Place of Protection

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
The “secret place” is identified as the Holy of Holies—the place where the mercy seat is. This means protection, provision, and deliverance are found not in effort, but in resting in Christ.
The wings and feathers described represent the cherubim over the mercy seat, symbolizing divine protection.

Resting in Christ: The Finished Work

The final emphasis is on rest. Believers are called to rest in the mercy seat, rest in Christ, and rest in the finished work of Jesus. There is no striving, no earning, and no performing required.
Jesus Himself declares: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." And His truth becomes our shield.
The pastors conclude by encouraging believers to hold up this truth as their defense—to trust fully in what Jesus has done, rather than what they must do.

We hope this article has blessed you and helped bring clarity to the finished work of Jesus Christ. If this teaching encouraged you, strengthened your faith, or gave you a new perspective on grace, please share it with others so they, too, can experience the freedom of resting in Him.
