Teaching summary
In this sermon, Pastors Leonard and Lori Rola conclude their series on the perfect laws of the new covenant: love, faith, and liberty. They emphasize that love fulfills all the law, faith is a gift from God rather than human effort, and liberty is the result of being freed from sin and the old covenant's requirements. The pastors highlight that true Christian living is not about works but about receiving God's love and grace, which energizes faith and leads to complete freedom. They call believers to rest in Jesus' finished work and live fully under the law of liberty.

Introduction and Thanksgiving
Pastor Leonard begins by giving thanks to Jesus, worshipping Him as the way maker and miracle worker. He praises God’s grace, which strengthens believers in moments of doubt. The pastors express heartfelt gratitude to the congregation and supporters of their ministry, acknowledging the love, encouragement, and financial support they receive from those who partner with New Life Ministry.
The Perfect Law of Love
Pastor Leonard reviews the first teaching in this series—the perfect law of love—rooted in John 13:34-35: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another." He emphasizes that this new commandment surpasses and fulfills all previous commandments. Loving others as Jesus loves us transforms how we treat spouses, children, friends, and neighbors.
Paul echoes this truth in Romans 13:8: "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." Pastor Leonard highlights that love eliminates the need for any other laws because Romans 13:10: "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Similarly, Galatians 5:14: "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
The Perfect Law of Faith
Pastor Leonard then transitions to the second teaching—the perfect law of faith—which flows directly from love. Paul asks in Romans 3:27: "Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith." Faith is not a work of human striving but a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
He explains that real faith is not mental effort but God’s own faith imparted to believers. Romans 12:3: "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."
Paul affirms this in Galatians 2:20: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." Faith is energized by love as Galatians 5:6: "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love."
Jesus Himself said in Mark 11:22: "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." Pastor Leonard emphasizes that this should be understood as having the faith of God.
The Perfect Law of Liberty
The final teaching is on the law of liberty. Paul writes in Romans 6:1-2: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Because believers are united with Christ, they are dead to sin and alive in Him: Romans 6:7-8: "For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him."
Sin no longer has power: Romans 6:14: "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." Pastor Leonard contrasts the old law, which could never bring perfection, with Christ’s finished work: Hebrews 10:1: "For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect."
Through Jesus, believers are forever sanctified: Hebrews 10:14: "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." Paul confirms in Colossians 2:14: "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross."
The old law was an administration of death and condemnation: 2 Corinthians 3:7: "But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:" and 2 Corinthians 3:9: "For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory."
Believers are encouraged to hold onto their freedom: Galatians 5:1: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
Grace and Freely Receiving from God
Pastor Leonard reminds us that God’s nature has always been to give freely. Even in Genesis, Adam was told to freely enjoy the garden. This reflects God’s grace, where no toiling or human effort is needed. Salvation and every blessing come as gifts through Jesus’ obedience, not ours. 1 John 4:10: "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
Closing Remarks and Prayer
The message closes with a prayer of thanksgiving, acknowledging that everything is because of Jesus’ love and finished work. Pastor Leonard encourages believers to walk in love, live by God’s faith, and rejoice in the liberty that Christ provides. He reminds everyone that it is all about God’s grace, freely given to us in Christ Jesus.
We hope this article blessed you. Share this teaching with others who need to know the power of God’s love, faith, and liberty. May the grace of Jesus Christ continue to lead you into the freedom and joy of His new covenant.
