Teaching summary

In this teaching, Pastors Leonard and Lori Rola emphasize that everything in the Christian life is about Jesus and what He has already finished—not about human effort. They contrast faith-confession teachings with their “grace lane,” showing how easily believers can slip into guilt and self-effort. The key warning sign is the phrase “I must not be…,” which reveals when faith has become work. They anchor the message in Ephesians 2:8–9 and Titus 3:4–7, declaring that salvation, healing, preservation, and wholeness are gifts of grace that never change.

Bible verses referenced

John 10:10- "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

2 Corinthians 5:17- "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Mark 11:22-24- "And Jesus, answering, saith unto them, Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

Mark 16:17-18- "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Ephesians 2:8-9- "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Titus 3:4-7- "But after that, the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

Introduction: It Is All About Jesus

Pastor Lenny opens by declaring that New Life Ministry is completely centered on Jesus. It is not about what you must do, nor about what he must do. It is about what Jesus has already done. He stresses that Jesus finished the work, and when we put our faith in Him, we qualify for the inheritance God has prepared for us.

He references Jesus’ words about abundant life:

John 10:10-"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
Life in Christ is good because it is rooted in what has already been accomplished. The emphasis is not striving but trusting in the finished work.

The Role of the Holy Spirit in Revealing What Is Finished

Pastor Lori reminds listeners that although Jesus has finished the work, the Holy Spirit is present now to reveal everything Jesus accomplished. The Holy Spirit makes known the gifts already given. This reinforces that believers are not trying to obtain something new but learning to see what is already theirs in Christ.

New Life Ministry: Introducing You to the True You

The ministry’s purpose is to introduce believers to the “true you”—the new creation reality in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17- "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Believers are holy, blameless, righteous, redeemed, loved, healed, whole, and glorified. If they could see themselves as God sees them, their lives would be transformed. The message is identity in Christ, not self-improvement.

The Faith-Confession Lane and Its Hidden Trap

Pastor Lenny acknowledges other truthful teachings, particularly those centered on faith and confession. He quotes Mark 11:

Mark 11:22-24- "And Jesus, answering, saith unto them, Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."

He also references the signs that follow believers:

Mark 16:17-18- "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

These teachings are true. Believers speak to mountains, command sickness, and exercise authority. However, when results do not manifest, many fall into doubt, condemnation, and guilt.

The “I Must Not Be

The danger sign is the internal confession: “I must not be believing enough,” “I must not be standing enough,” “I must not be using my authority correctly.”

That phrase—“I must not be”—reveals a shift from grace to works. The focus turns inward. Faith becomes effort. The believer begins evaluating performance instead of resting in Christ.

The Grace Lane: Rest and Receive

Their “grace lane” removes guilt, shame, condemnation, and self-effort. Instead of “work and believe,” the message is “rest and receive.”

Grace is not passive unbelief; it is active trust in what Jesus has already accomplished. The believer is not striving to qualify but resting in the qualification already secured.

The Foundational Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9

Pastor Lenny calls this the verse of all verses:

Ephesians 2:8-9- "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Salvation is not of ourselves. It is not of works. It is not toiling. There is no boasting in grace because it is God’s doing, not ours. This principle never changes after conversion. It remains grace through faith from beginning to end.

The Meaning of “Saved

He explains that “saved” means more than forgiveness. It includes healing, preservation, wholeness, rescue, and soundness. All of this comes by grace.

The word “gift” means bounty, generosity, something liberally given. It is not earned. The word “works” implies toil. The word “boast” implies glorying in one’s own effort. Grace eliminates boasting because it removes self-credit.

Again, the tell is “I must not be.” That signals the shift back to self-effort.

Titus 3:4-7: Mercy, Regeneration, and Justification

He closes with Titus:

Titus 3:4-7- "But after that, the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

Salvation is not by works of righteousness we have done. It is according to His mercy. We are regenerated, renewed, justified by grace, and made heirs. Paul reiterates that it is gifting, compassion, mercy, and love—not human effort.

Final Exhortation: Rest, Believe, and Remove the Tell

The pastors conclude by urging listeners to remove the “I must not be” from their vocabulary. When that thought arises, return to Ephesians 2:8–9 and Titus 3:4–7. It is a gift. It never changes.
Faith in Jesus saves, heals, preserves, and makes whole—not by striving but by grace. The call is simple: rest and receive.

We hope this article blessed you. If this teaching strengthened your understanding of grace, share it with others so they, too, can rest in what Jesus has already finished. Thank you for reading and for supporting the message of pure grace.
