Teaching summary

In this powerful teaching, Pastors Leonard and Lori Rola share the pure message of grace through Jesus Christ. They emphasize that salvation and righteousness are not rewards for good behavior but gifts received by faith. The pastors expose the bondage of mixture—the false gospel of Jesus plus self-effort—and urge believers to embrace their full identity in Christ. By renewing our minds to God's truth and walking in our new nature, we glorify the Father and experience the freedom Jesus secured. The sermon declares: Jesus took care of it all—just accept it.

  • John 1:12- “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

  • Romans 6:4-5- “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. • Ephesians 4:17-24- “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
    Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.
    Who, being past feeling, have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
    But ye have not so learned Christ;
    If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
    That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
    And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
    And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

Introduction: A Privilege to Share the Gospel of Grace

Pastor Leonard opens by expressing joy in teaching the Word of God, calling it a privilege. He and Pastor Lori cherish their time with viewers and consider it an honor to share what the Lord downloads into their hearts. They emphasize that this ministry isn’t about elevating them, but about advancing the Kingdom of God.

The Yuck of Mixture: Breaking Free from Legalism

The pastors speak boldly against the "gospel of mixture," which combines Jesus with human effort. This false message keeps believers stuck in guilt, shame, condemnation, and legalism. They contrast this with the true gospel of grace, where Jesus did it all. They clarify that mixture (Jesus + you) nullifies the purity of the gospel and leads to striving instead of rest.

The Gift of Righteousness and Reigning in Life

Romans 5:17 is emphasized:
“For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
The focus is on the gift, not a reward. Believers receive an abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. You don’t work for it; you simply receive it and reign in life through Jesus.

This revelation brings a powerful release—Pastor Lori testifies to feeling a literal weight lifted off her when she grasped this truth: “I don’t have to! I don’t have to do anything!” This is the essence of grace—Jesus did it all.

Foundational Verses: Your New Identity in Christ

They revisit the key scriptures from Sunday's message, “It's Time to Walk in Your Newness”:

John 1:12- “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

2 Corinthians 5:17- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Romans 6:4-5-“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”

Cooperating with Your Newness

Being given the right to become children of God comes with authority and identity, but you must cooperate with your new nature. The pastors explain that your inner man is already holy, sanctified, and righteous—but walking in that newness requires mind renewal and intentional agreement with God’s Spirit.

Renewing the Mind and Walking It Out

Believers must reprogram their minds from the old patterns—the “yuck”—into the truth of their new creation identity. This means letting go of the gospel of works and embracing the finished work of Jesus. The result is a life that glorifies the Father.

Romans 6:4 states:
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
The phrase “by the glory of the Father” stood out to Pastor Leonard. We glorify God by walking in the newness Jesus purchased for us.

The Power of the Greek: Renovation of the Mind

They then study Ephesians 4:17 -24 in-depth:

Ephesians 4:23
“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”

The Greek word for renewed is ananeoo, which means to renovate or reform. The “mind” (nous) includes the intellect, will, and understanding. To walk in your newness, your thoughts must align with the truth of your identity in Christ.

Putting on the New Man

Ephesians 4:24
“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

The Greek for put on is enduo, meaning “to sink into a garment.” Paul urges believers to sink into the comfort and warmth of their new identity, just like sinking into a blanket on a cold night. Pastor Leonard compares this to getting cozy on a couch under a blanket, embracing what is already yours.

Mirror Bible: Ephesians Explained

Pastor Lori reads Ephesians 4:17-24 from the Mirror Study Bible, highlighting beautiful expressions like:

  • “You have nothing in common with the folly of the empty-minded masses.”

  • “Be renewed in your innermost mind. This will cause you to be completely reprogrammed in the way you think about yourself.”

  • “Immerse yourself in this God-shaped new man from above.”

The Mirror Bible translation powerfully reinforces that righteousness and holiness are about identity, not behavior. The old life feels foreign when you know the truth.

Final Thoughts and Encouragement

Pastor Leonard emphasizes that most people are still living by the flesh and sense-based thinking. But the Holy Spirit is here to help remove the blindfolds and guide us into walking in our new life. It’s all about cooperating with God’s Word and allowing your mind to be renovated.

We hope this article has blessed you. Jesus truly took care of it all. You don’t have to strive—you only have to receive. Share this teaching with someone who needs to hear about the freedom and power of grace. Let others know: the blindfold can come off, and newness of life is here for all who believe.
