Teaching summary

In this message, Pastors Leonard and Lori Rola teach about “markers” in the Word of God that reveal a believer’s true identity in Christ. They explain the significance of the Hebrew “Aleph and Tav,” connecting it to Jesus as the beginning and the end, and how Scripture points to Him throughout the Bible. Just as Jesus discovered His mission through the Word, believers must find the “markers” that reveal who they are in Christ. When the soul comes into agreement with these truths, the life and power of the Spirit begin to flow freely.

Introduction and Appreciation for Support

The pastors begin by greeting the congregation and thanking them for their prayers, letters, and financial support. They emphasize that God often meets needs through His people. As believers give, God continues the cycle of provision, blessing both the ministry and the giver. They remind listeners that they are God’s hands extended to meet the needs of others.

The Meaning of Aleph and Tav

Pastor Leonard introduces the concept of Aleph and Tav, the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. He compares this to the Greek “Alpha and Omega,” a title used for Jesus, meaning the beginning and the end.

He explains that ancient Hebrew letters had symbolic meanings. Aleph was associated with a bull, representing sacrifice, and Tav was related to the symbol of a cross. Together, these symbols point to the sacrifice of Christ.

He explains that the Aleph-Tav marker appears over 7,300 times in the Old Testament Hebrew text. Scribes preserved it, even though many did not understand its significance. It appears even in the very first verse of the Bible, pointing to Jesus as the beginning and the end of God’s redemptive story.

Jesus in the Volume of the Book

Pastor Leonard then explains that Jesus recognized these markers in Scripture that revealed His identity and mission.

Hebrews 10:7- Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

He teaches that Jesus discovered who He was and what He was called to do by reading the Scriptures. The markers in the Word revealed His identity and purpose.

Jesus as Fully God and Fully Man

The pastors explain that Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. As God, He knew everything about His mission. But as a man, His mind, will, and emotions had to grow into that understanding.

Jesus’ human soul had to be instructed by the Word of God about who He was, whose He was, and what He could do. The markers in Scripture helped bring His human nature into agreement with His divine identity.

They explain that the same principle applies to believers today.

Markers for the Believer’s Identity

Just as Jesus had markers in the Word to show Him His identity, believers also have markers that reveal who they are in Christ.

The pastors explain that the believer’s spirit already knows these truths. But the soul—the mind, will, and emotions—must come into agreement with what the spirit knows. This happens by finding the markers in Scripture.

Core Markers: Loved, Righteous, and Holy

The first marker is that the believer is loved.

John 17:23- I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. This verse shows that the Father loves believers as He loves Jesus.

The next marker is righteousness.

Romans 5:1- Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:30- Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

2 Corinthians 5:21- For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. These markers reveal that believers are already made righteous through faith in Christ.

The next marker is holiness.

Ephesians 4:23–24- And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Believers are not working toward holiness; they are already created holy in Christ. The soul simply needs to be renewed to this truth.

Markers of Sanctification, Perfection, and Completeness

The next marker is sanctification.

Hebrews 10:14- For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Believers are not gradually becoming sanctified; they have already been sanctified through Christ’s sacrifice.

Another marker is perfection.

Hebrews 10:14- For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Ephesians 4:13- Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Even when the flesh fails, the marker in the Word declares the believer perfect in Christ.

Another marker is completeness.

Colossians 2:10- And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. Believers lack nothing because they are complete in Christ.

Markers of Healing, Riches, and Wisdom

The next marker is healing.

Romans 8:11- But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in believers and gives life to their mortal bodies.

Another marker is riches.

2 Corinthians 8:9- For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. The pastors explain that this refers to real abundance, not just spiritual wealth.

The final marker is wisdom.

1 Corinthians 2:16- For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Believers already possess the mind of Christ. Wisdom is not something they must beg for; it is something to be released from within.

Final Encouragement: Find Your Markers

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. We hope this teaching blessed you and helped you discover the powerful markers God has placed in His Word about your identity in Christ. Share this message with others so they, too, can find their markers, believe the truth, and live in the fullness of who they are in Him.

The pastors close by encouraging believers to find their markers in the Word. As they read Scripture, the Holy Spirit will reveal truths about their identity in Christ.

They warn that religious thinking may try to contradict these markers, telling believers they are not righteous, holy, or complete. They call these thoughts lies and urge believers to trust the Word of God instead.

They encourage listeners to let the Word define their identity and to come into agreement with what their spirit already knows.
